Do you have what it takes? The Crewe Heritage Centre is looking for keen individuals to join our strong team of volunteers for the 2015 season and beyond. The Crewe Heritage Centre has relied on the dedication of volunteers since opening in 1987, maybe you are looking to enhance your CV or just to make some new friends, everyone is welcome. There are a variety of roles available at the Heritage Centre ranging from working in the admissions kiosk, cafe or shop to Miniature Railway operation and general site stewards.
You do not need any specialist skills or railway knowledge, we will provide all of your relevant training once you have started. On your first day you will be partnered with one of our regular volunteers who will be there to guide you through your induction and probation. Volunteering at the Heritage Centre is really easy to fit around your current job too!
So what benefits does becoming a volunteer have? By joining the Crewe Heritage Centre volunteers you will be able to visit the Heritage Centre during the winter when we are closed to the general public. You will also be able to help with restoration and maintenance projects that take place over the closed season.
How do I become a volunteer? It is really simple to join our team of volunteers, all you need to do is become a Supporter of the Crewe Heritage Centre, you can do this either by visiting the membership page on this website or at the Heritage Centre itself. All you need to do is ask a team member for a membership form on your next visit. On your membership form please indicate that you wish to join the volunteering team, once we have received the application a member of the team will be in touch to arrange an induction.
Are there any age restrictions on volunteers? Unfortunately we have a strict minimum age of 18 to become a volunteer, this is due to the Heritage Centre being an active rail yard and safety always has to be our top priority. However under 18’s can still contribute to the Centre us by becoming a supporter.
