After her short stay the Duchess departed Friday 1st April to Carnforth ready to work a tour on Saturday 2nd April, thereafter returning to her home at West Shed, Butterley on the Midland Railway Centre. All being well she will return to the Heritage Centre later on in the season for her usual summer workings for the Railway Touring Company.
Shortly before the Duchess departed our two resident Class 47s locomotives (The Centre’sD1842 and the Crewe Diesel Preservation Group’s 47712) also left behind a Devon and Cornwall Railways Class 31 destined for the Nene Valley Railway and their Diesel Gala Weekend.
I hate to tell you but the steam is rushing to the duchesses head. She will not be amused.

Unfortunately we currently have an issue with images taken on Apple devices whereby it appears correct when viewed on a lap top or pc but upside down when viewed on phones
