This weekend sees the return of two steam locomotives to the Heritage Centre for brief overnight visits in order to operate on two of the Railway Touring Companies excursions.

Arriving Friday evening at 18.30 hours is Stanier Coronation Class Pacific 46233 ‘Duchess of Sutherland’ which is scheduled to leave at 07.32 on Saturday to work the Crewe to Carlisle and return ‘Cumbrian Mountain Express’, returning to the Heritage Centre at 20.52 tomorrow evening. It will be on display at the Centre on Sunday morning (24th) before departing at 12.18 for its home base at West Shed, Butterley.

Arriving on Saturday afternoon at 14.52 will be one of the West Coast Railway Companies ‘Jubilee’ Class locomotives which will be staying until 08.20 on Sunday when it departs to work the North Wales Coast Express from Liverpool to Holyhead  and return.
